pH: 5.4 – 6.8 Perfect for use as a growing medium

Air Filled Porosity (AFP): 10 – 11% perfect for use as a growing medium.

The Air Filled Porosity (AFP) of a growing medium defines the air spaces in the pot needed for good water dispersal and drainage, and to allow good healthy root growth.

Root growth: With coir you will find this will be much faster, making it excellent for cuttings. In some cases freshly repotted plants may appear not to be growing for a week or so but if you check, they are growing roots rather than tops.

Water Absorption Time: Immediate wetting/re-wetting time is immediate

Cation Exchange capacity: In excess of 120 meq/1000 combined with a good conductivity figure allowing holding and dispersal of nutrients.

Carbon/Nitrogen: Ratio of between 90:1 and 110:1. This combined with coir’s lignin content makes it a good long term growing medium.

Nutrition: Coir contains a useful amount of available potassium, and small quantities of:
