Mulches

Bark mulch

Bark peelings from local managed woodland.  Ideal both for use as mulch and for pathways. Bark mulch will stop weeds, and helps water retention in droughts.  It aerates and feeds the soil as it biodegrades.

Cocoshells mulch

Cocoshells are chocolate bean husks, providing a perfect mulch-forming barrier that gels when wet. This reduces the risk of the mulch blowing away and mimises the need for watering and weeding.

It also deters slugs and snails, and some cats dislike the chocolate smell.  The coco beans husks help break down the soil and provide nutrients, minerals and trace elements  over a period of years.

One 90 litre bag will cover 3.5 square metres.

WARNING: COCOSHELLS—LIKE CHOCOLATE—ARE TOXIC TO DOGS

Composted Bark

This potting grade bark can be used alone as a growing medium.  Or add it to homemade or proprietary potting composts.

It will improve drainage, looks decorative, and has a lower pH.

For a professional appearance, use it for dressing pots.
