The Air Filled Porosity (AFP) of a growing medium defines the air spaces in the pot needed for good water dispersal and drainage, and to allow good healthy root growth.

Root growth: With coir you will find this will be much faster making it excellent for cuttings. In some cases freshly repotted plants may appear not to be growing for a week or so but if you check, they are growing roots rather than tops.

Water Absorption Time - Immediate Wetting/Re-wetting Time is Immediate

Cation Exchange capacity in excess of 120 meq/1000 combined with a good Conductivity figure allowing holding and dispersal of nutrients.

Carbon/Nitrogen ratio of between 90:1 and 110:1. This combined with coir's Lignin content makes it a good long term growing medium.
